RRA Annual Awards


Beginning in 2025, The Rustico Ringette Association will hold an annual Award ceremony to honor those who stand out and go above and beyond for our association.

Association members are asked to nominate individuals for both Coach and Volunteer of the Year by filling out the following Google form Final decisions will be made by the awards committee.

 

Coach of the Year

Awarded to a coach who has demonstrated outstanding leadership, strategic acumen, and success in guiding their team through a season. This award typically considers several key factors:

  • Player development - The coach's success in helping players improve their skills, as well as fostering teamwork and cohesion.
  • Tactical strategy - The effectiveness of the coach’s game plans and adjustments during games, showcasing their understanding of the sport and ability to make smart decisions.
  • Overcoming adversity - How well the coach handles challenges, such as injuries, underperforming players, or other setbacks, and still manages to guide the team to success.
  • Leadership and inspiration - The ability to motivate and inspire players, creating a positive and driven team culture.

Volunteer of the Year

Awarded to an individual who has made a significant, consistent, and impactful contribution to our organization through volunteer work. This award recognizes the dedication, time, and energy someone has put into helping others without compensation. Key factors in defining this award include:

  • Time and commitment - The amount of time the volunteer has dedicated to their work, often going above and beyond what is expected or required.
  • Impact and contributions - The tangible positive effects of the volunteer's efforts on the organization.
  • Leadership and initiative - The ability to take charge of projects, inspire others, and possibly organize or coordinate volunteer efforts.
  • Consistency and reliability - How dependable and consistent the volunteer has been in their involvement, showing a long-term commitment to the organization.
  • Positive attitude and teamwork - The volunteer’s ability to work well with others, maintain a positive attitude, and support the mission and vision of the organization they’re serving.

 

 

Coaches and bench staff of each team are asked to nominate players for the following awards, with the awards committee making the final decisions.

Junior (U10/U12)and Senior Goalie(U14 & up) of the Year

  • Awarded to an individual who not only displays athletic prowess with respect to wins/shutouts, consistency, and clutch performance but also their attitude on and off the ice and how well they interact with and motivate their teammates. Aspects of sportsmanship can also play a role in determining the winner.

Player of the Year - awarded to one player per team (U10 and up)

  • Awarded to an individual who demonstrates several factors including individual performance, impact on team success, consistency, and leadership. Ultimately, it's about a blend of personal excellence, influence on team success, and consistency across individual and team accomplishments. 
     

Most Sportsmanlike- awarded to one player per team (U10 and up)

  • Awarded to an athlete who embodies the spirit of fair play, respect for the game, respect for opponents, and displays a positive attitude both on and off the ice. They support and motivate teammates, especially during tough moments, and are role models for others, often helping young athletes or peers understand the importance of good sportsmanship.

 

Our U6 & U8 players will also be recognized at our awards ceremonies where all players will receive a Rustico Ringette medal.
